SUMMARY:Inspiring a Revolution in Your Heart and Mind\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:This course takes participants on an experiential journey through The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying\, giving you a taste of its major themes and their practical implications. Suitable for people of any religion or of none\, the course encourages you to reflect on the Buddhist teachings\, to see what makes sense to you and to experiment with applying these teachings in your daily life. \nThe Tibetan Book of Living and Dying is widely regarded as one of the most complete and authoritative presentations of the Tibetan Buddhist teachings. A manual for life and death and a source of sacred inspiration from the heart of the Tibetan tradition\, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying provides a lucid and inspiring introduction to the practice of meditation\, to the nature of mind\, to karma and rebirth\, and to the trials and rewards of the spiritual path. \nThe teachings\, meditation and contemplations from this authentic tradition reveal how each of us can live a more meaningful\, connected and fulfilling life. \nParticipants in this course will learn: \n\nHow to meditate\, or deepen their understanding if already meditating\nHow an acceptance of impermanence can help us understand death and change our attitude towards life\nHow meditation can transform our perception\, increase our confidence and fully connect us to the world around us\nThat mind is much more than just thoughts and emotions\nHow understanding the interdependency of all things and the principle of karma (that every action has an effect) gives us a logical basis for ethics and personal responsibility.\n\nEach session consists of: \n\nVideo teachings from Tibetan and Western Buddhist masters\, including Sogyal Rinpoche\, Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche\, Ringu Tulku Rinpoche\, Mingyur Rinpoche\, Pema Chödrön and Sharon Salzberg.\nMeditation practice\nTime for contemplation\nGroup discussions and Q&A\, offering each student the opportunity to explore the teachings and practices in an open supportive environment and to connect with a community of practitioners.

SUMMARY:Peace\, Compassion and the Natural World
DESCRIPTION:Peace\, Compassion and the Natural World\nWhat Buddhist thinking can offer in the face of ecological crisis\nA Public Talk with Ringu Tulku Rinpoche \nMore than 2500 years ago\, the Buddha pointed to the delicate balance between humankind and nature. Now\, it is clear that ecological crisis cannot be solved by science alone. The challenges of climate change and environmental degradation demand personal\, emotional\, social\, ethical and spiritual responses. In this public talk\, Ringu Tulku Rinpoche will offer insights into how the Tibetan Buddhist teachings can inspire and support us to make the personal and wider changes needed to counter the threats to our precious planet. \n  \nAbout Ringu Tulku Rinpoche \nRingu Tulku Rinpoche was born in Kham Lingtsang\, in Eastern Tibet\, and was recognized by His Holiness the Sixteenth Gyalwang Karmapa as the incarnation of one of the tulkus of the Kagyüpa Ringu monastery. He studied with some of the most distinguished scholars of the Tibetan Nyingma and Kagyu traditions and received teachings from many outstanding masters\, including Thrangu Rinpoche\, Dodrupchen Rinpoche\, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche\, and the Gyalwang Karmapa. In India\, he is involved in environmental projects such as the Sowa Rigpa Institute whose aim is to preserve traditional medicinal herbs from Tibet. Rinpoche has participated in many international conferences on the links between Buddhism and science. \n  \nDate: Friday 3 February 2023\nTime: 7.00-9.00pm\nWhere: Richmond Theatrette\, 415 Church St\, Richmond

As a married man raising two daughters\, Tsoknyi Rinpoche has interesting views on how to balance a life dedicated to Buddhist practice with the demands of a husband and father. SUMMARY:Naturally at Ease with Dr Ian Gawler - Melbourne
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\nNatural at Ease \nMindfulness and Meditation with Dr Ian Gawler \n  \nHalf Day Workshop : Saturday 9th of July 2022 10:00am-1:00pm.   \nSuitable for: both beginners and the more experienced \nIn person at our Melbourne Centre \n803 Nicholson St Carlton North \n  \nIan will present an overview of the Buddhist view of how the mind works\, and practical meditation techniques to help you access your mind’s vast potential for happiness and wellbeing. Drawing on 40 years of meditation practice\, Ian outlines techniques that have helped many people ameliorate stress\, anxiety and burnout. \nIan says\, Many people confirm that when they meditate\, they feel so much more at ease\, content\, energized\, focused and at peace\, but when they go back to their everyday life they quickly get caught up in the busy-ness once more and lose it. This highly experiential session will focus upon how to bring the practice of mindfulness and meditation into your daily life so this calm\, clear and peaceful mind can be with you always. \nSuited to both beginners and the more experienced\, we will meditate together and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.\n\n\n\n\n
